During a recent education session for our GPs, Dr Mariam Tokhi presented on the topic of narrative medicine in the context of mental health in survivors of torture and trauma. As part of the session, Utopia GPs and registrar Amireh, Cynthia, Kat, Lester, Mariam and Paul collectively composed a poem which is presented in this post. I, Lester Mascarenhas gave the poem its title in tribute to Coleridge's Rime of the Ancient Mariner; Coleridge's (slightly longer) opus reflects on the spirituality of nature and the power of human insight and self-forgiveness.
